Cognex has released an innovative new version of its VisionPro software integrating ViDi deep learning software. The latest update allows you to easily use the VisionPro standard tools and ViDi deep learning tools in the same software environment of QuickBuild to produce one powerful solution for automating vision inspection.

Simplifying vision inspection software

The combination of both VisionPro and Vidi software allows users to integrate all of Cognex’s tools into one simplified, deep learning package for the first time.

Previously, users would have to programme both the standard tools and deep learning machine vision tools with two separate pieces of software.

Now, users can have just one interface for making changes and modifications to all types of automated vision inspection. This opens up more opportunities for implementing advanced vision systems as it simplifies the process of integrating deep learning tools into existing systems.

The power of ViDi deep learning software

ViDi is a powerful deep learning software platform designed by Cognex. It was specifically produced to solve problems that are too difficult or complex for traditional machine vision systems.

The intelligent vision inspection software allows camera systems to read the most difficult of characters using deep learning technology.

The system can also be trained to recognise ‘good’ and ‘bad’ examples, without specifically defining what makes the item good or bad.

With an easy-to-use interface, ViDi eliminates the need for complex programming, making deep learning technology more accessible for non-vision experts.

Bringing vision inspection to life

The combination of the powerful pair makes it easier for users to utilise standard inspection tools. Facilities can now automate standard inspection tasks such as dimensional checks or colour recognition alongside deep learning tools.

The application of deep learning allows users to complete complex tasks such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for hard to read text or missing texts as well as difficult inspection challenges such as checking for surface defects at speed.

One key example of a machine vision being brought to life is classification. Deep learning excels at the classification of similar products which need a more detailed level of visual inspection. The classification of packaging is a key practice of this. For example, many products have the same packaging but the contents may vary in terms of descriptive detail such as ice cream flavours.

Easy integration for fast set up

The combined package of ViDi and VisionPro is PC based and is compatible with most cameras. This means that facilities do not need to spend their budgets on installing higher specification cameras. They are still able to achieve their desired results as the software integration works the same regardless of camera specification. This makes deep learning vision inspection systems more accessible and affordable to all facilities.
